DC One Yamaha THR Tone Pack
This tone pack includes the exact tones and presets I have on my very own Yamaha THR30ii amp. These are the tones that I’ve created and used for practice for years. Feel free to tweak them so that they work with your guitar and pickup configuration. Below is a brief description of what each preset is.
Holdsworth Clean: this is a clean tone inspired by Allan Holdsworth, the tone is completely clean using the classic setting on the amp with some light compressions, chorus, reverb and delay. There’s no breakup here whatsoever, just clean sounds to bring out the beauty of your chords.
Midgain Lead: this is a low to medium gain lead tone that uses the crunch setting and some compression. It’s great for playing solos but also great for rhythm guitar if you turn the delay off. If you have higher output or splitable humbucker pickups and use the middle or neck position, you’ll get a really awesome grinding tone that’s awesome for downtuned 7 and 8 string guitars. This is also a great fusion lead as well.
Fusion Solo: This is a balls to the walls shred lead tone, compression for boost, gain on max and a noise gate to tame the gain. This is a great solo tone for fusion, rock and metal. Very “liquidy” sounding.
Djent Brutality: This tone uses the green modern mode on the amp with the “mods” speaker cabinet for a nasally Meshuggah/Animals as Leaders rhythm tone. It would also work in a tech death setting in the mode of bands like Archspire. This is perfect for down-tuned guitars, baritone, 7 string and 8 string guitars.
Hi Gain Chuggage: This is an alternate rhythm tone that less compressed and nasal and more classic death metal or thrash metal tone. If you’re more on an old school or 80s metal rocker, this is the tone for you. Add some delay or reverb and this quickly becomes a lead tone.
